do you think after Ron and Hermione got out of the trapdoor and raised the alarm and were being patched up in the hospital wing

do you think they were given the most royal proud mama smackdown by McGonagall like “ how DARE you infiltrate a death maze you are ELEVEN and miss granger how on earth did you solve my chessboard i”

and hermione interjected like “oh professor it wasn’t me. i’m useless at chess. it was ron.”

and McGonagall turned to look at Ron Weasley in total amazement at this 11 yr old kid who had been pretty ordinary in all her classes but had apparently beaten her in death chess and he just shrugged like “rookie mistakes, professor. you made some rookie mistakes.”

in no particular order:

• as a kid after the full moon, he used to lie on the sofa and watch muggle cartoons with a parent on either side.
• before the Marauders became animagi, he used to have panic attacks in the Shrieking Shack when he was waiting for the moon to rise
• he cried when his friends found out about his lycanthropy because he was so scared of being rejected and outed as a freak of nature.
• and he did that cry/laugh-hiccup thing as they all rushed to comfort him with consoling words and terrible jokes.
• he was always on edge the day before+the day of the full moon, surprising everyone who was so used to his gentle nature.
• and then when he came back a day or two later he made sure to apologize to every single person he was rude to.
• every time he was home he listened to his records none-stop because he loved Hogwarts, but they were seriously lacking in the music department.
• he became friends with Lily before any of the other Marauders were - and used to discuss music with her and Peter, because all Sirius & James could contribute with was “why would you name a band ‘The Beatles’? What’s so appealing about insects?”
• he has a humour that could dry up oceans. (Most people think he’s just strange, but the marauders know, man, and they love it.)
• also he had a zero tolerance for his friends’ bullshit
• he was always giving relationship advice to James and Sirius besides the fact that he hadn’t even held hands with someone until fifth year
• he was so shocked the first time someone showed genuine interest in him that he fell out of his chair
• (but he said yes to the date, because who knows how long it could be until something like that happened again?)
• Remus being red-cheeked, and plump-lipped after his first kiss, with eyes wide and a grin on his face
• and Sirius smiling back at him because after all this time, he had finally realized that the little boy he used to know had turned into a man
